Animal Assisted Therapy
Animal assisted therapy (also known as Pet Therapy) is used as an occupational therapy tool within psychology. It is proven to reduce anxiety in a variety of situations.
The interaction and relationship between people and animals has also been shown to reduce stress and promote well being. It can also increase socialisation; improve self esteem & confidence ; promote quality of life & encourage nurturance & responsibility.
Our sessions are delivered by a qualified Animal Assisted Therapist who is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Our therapy dog has undergone dedicated training and it is clear to see she performs her role well.
We often work alongside psychotherapists, psychologists and occupational therapists in a variety of settings, to make a difference to the mental well being of patients experiencing a mental health condition.
